Whenever Katniss thinks about her developing relationship with Peeta throughout the Games, she thinks about Gale as well. She wonders what he thinks about the whole romance plot. How do you think Katniss really feels about Gale? How do you think she compares both Peeta and Gale?
I think Katniss defintely has feelings for Gale. Why else would she connect him to the romance between her and Peeta? I also think her feelings for Gale are holding her back from truly falling in love with Peeta. But I do also believe that Katniss begans to develop feelings for Peeta for real rather than it purely being a plot to win the Games. For on page 381 after Peeta describes how he has loved her since she was 5, Katniss says "For a moment I'm almost foolishly happy and then confusion sweeps over me". At this point I believe is when Katniss finally realizes that there is some truth behind these intially fake feelings. This confusion is going to lead to conflict in the end when she has to decide who she truly wants.
